Have you noticed how children of different nationalities come together often end up playing together and understand each other despite the language barrier? I have a lot of stories about it: a summer in Tuscany children of my friend end up with a little English and did not utter a word of Italian and the two Italian boys tell us, in the late afternoon of beach games, a lot of things of the British girl that even we adults had with the First Certificate included.

Reflecting a bit I think it ‘due to non-verbal language and a bit’ universality of the games, running behind a ball we all know, is not it? Regarding the topic of body language but I do not know if there is something universal that makes children understand. Even as an adult because I have studied different languages and cultures and one of the lessons more fun was the difference that the same gesture represented in the other language.
